You Hired a Digital Coworker. Did You Write the Job Description?

Going paperless had been a running joke at the company for two years. Nobody believed it would happen.

This was a 100-year-old, 750-person CPG distributor, and I was three weeks into helping them put AI to work. The way I do that is the opposite of what consultants sell. I don't walk in with a deck and a list of tools to install. I sit with the people who actually do the work, one at a time, and I hunt for the one who has already cracked it. Because in almost every company, somebody has. My whole job is to find that person, understand exactly what they did, and turn it into something the rest of the company can latch onto.

That morning, I found him. The guy who plans the truckloads.

He didn't open a chatbot and start asking it questions. He sat down and wrote it a rulebook.
